‘Work Makes You Free’ – Observational, Funny and Fantastically Relevant

“…What’s the fuck!ng point, what are you all working for?”

A few days ago on a Saturday afternoon (still recovering from gallivanting like an exhibitionist at LFW- coming soon!) Miss Brown got around to The King’s Head Pub Theatre in the funky new boots to check out the show written by Micheal Ross featuring actress of my name-sake Adwoa Alexis.

The show follows singer-songwriter Kirsty (Jenny Wills) who cries in the shower every morning before heading off to work at the Job Centre despite her dreams of being a super-star. Banker ‘Jane’ (Lory Simonetti) is disgusted by the lazy jobless- those on benefits who won’t go out and work as she leaves for Canary Wharf every morning- or is she jealous she works in a soul-less world of stiff suits and stale personalities?

#showtime :The cast in action…

My favourite characters and actors were the Employment Minister ‘Adam’ played by Alex Lloyd- absolutely spot on in every way, he really nailed the honestly dishonest ‘politician swag’ may or may not be a promiscuous homosexual with a brother who has never held a job for longer than three months, along with Adwoa as ‘Willow’, a middle-class, bohemian struggling actress who is on benefits whilst she waits for her big break…or maybe she’s just a ‘job snob’? Adwoa shined with her witty musings and her sharp delivery.

The party is over for all you Actors, Artists, Writers, Singers out there. I’ve said it. Grow up and go to work. This country is fucked in case you hadn’t noticed…

Any of these characters sound familiar?

You can check out a quick video live from the show on my Instagram @missbrowngotaround the last show is this Thursday!

Miss Brown says…Get down! ;D
