Last week Miss Brown had the pleasure of getting round to Chance Street to see the immersive performances directed and curated by artist FKA Twigs featuring her young team of awesome dancers, actors and artists! The icing on the cake? Chatting to her afterwards like she was an old friend. Sweet, polite and generous with all that swag! #therealness

‘Rooms’ was a performance piece in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Madame Clicquot (yep that champagne) who was widowed in the month of October and this year’s Widow Series also featured artists from Streeters alongside some of the fashion industry’s top design teams…

The building was transformed into a maze of ‘scenes’ with weird and wonderful beings stalking and slithering through the rooms as the crowd were following or searching for ‘Diamas’ (Twigs).
Another room downstairs featuring a contortionist…

The bars served Veuve Clicquot champers (£13 a glass after the first freebie unless you had a token). The Basement bar had a very spooky vibe for Halloween…
I caught one of the performers (Tessa V) before showtime taking some press pics…

Twigs performed in all rooms, starting from the top floor. Her character was a lost soul on a journey through the Zodiac in search of her spiritual home, ending on the ground floor with violin playing, body-poppin’, Frida Kahlo-esque Sagittarius.

For some it was “some pretty weird sh!t” and for me it was some next-level- shi!t. Visually creative, sensual, thoughtful and unpretentiously raw. All the performers were ridiculously commited- they gave life! #work

Artist Sagazan did an immersive clay performance with FKA Twigs (below)…

Afterwards ‘Twigs’ was raving about how good the clay was for her skin, her face was super soft!

The characters whispered, touched, crawled and danced their way through the building immersing onlookers all night. The costumes and especially the choreography by Ramone Baynes (he was so lovely!) and Dominic Lawrence ( awesome dancer) was on point. On the last night they performed for a full-on 5 hours! #hardwork

In the basement there was loud music, lots of confetti and diva attitude…
There was some more sauce and sass from Chester Marthinus and Georgia Curtis as ‘Aries’ who had a full on dance routine with FKA Twigs on the ground floor…

Another thing I loved about the performances was that the dancers and actors were her friends- they’ve worked with her and featured on her videos or shows and some just met her once and she chose them for the gig! I caught her bandmembers who made all the songs for the show aside from ‘Leo’… #ootd

And this guy was rockin’ her merch!

I am not surprised it was a sold out show- allot of people will be gutted. When I got chatting to Twigs, I told her bluntly “The one thing I love about you is I don’t get you. For me, that’s original (she smiled) as I continued “I don’t see you as a singer or dancer, you’re art…Oh and your performance at the MOBOs last year was liiiiife. You smashed it!” before giving her a hi-5. I asked about how people respond to her work and she mentioned softly, ” Well it’s hard because it’s different, sometimes that’s why people like it…otherwise they don’t get me. That’s why I have to work with people who see my vision…” Then she went on about the clay and made me stroke her face. #goodtimes

Writing about the 2 day event doesn’t do it justice, it was a unique experience and the finale was pretty touching…a truly creative orgy of the Arts bruv! #justsaying
